The 4 main differences between the Motorola Moto G4 and Motorola Moto G4 Plus

Motorola have just unveiled the 4th generation Moto G, but instead of one handset the release sees a trilogy to include the Moto G4, Moto G4 Play and Moto G4 Plus.

Today we’re taking a look at two of these handsets to cure any confusion from their strong similarities.

First off, thanks to the pattern set out by Apple and their ‘Plus’ handsets, you’d be forgiven for thinking the the G4 Plus handset is larger than the original G4, but that’s not the case. In fact both handsets sport the same chassis size, same 5.5 inch full HD display, same Snapdragon 617 oct-core processor, 2GB of Ram, 5 megapixel front camera and same 3000mAh battery.

So just what does the Moto G4 Plus offer for the extra cost?

1. Camera

The main difference lies with the camera offering of the new Moto G Plus, which boasts an enhanced 16 megapixel rear camera with laser auto focus, phase auto detection and improved contracts detection. The Moto G4 bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus (PDAF) apart from a dual-LED colour-balancing flash.

2. Fingerprint Sensor

The Motorola Moto G4 Plus offers a fingerprint sensor that is embedded on the home button, a feature missing form the Moto G4. The fingerprint scanner is obviously an important feature to consider when thinking of the security of your handset, but its important to note that Motorola haven’t included NFC technology in either handset so the fingerprint will not be used for Android Pay.

3. Bundled Turbo Charger

Both handsets support Motorola’s TurboPower quick charge technology, but only the Moto G4 Plus will come with one of Motorola’s TurboPower chargers in the box. However, TurboPower chargers are available separately if you opt for the regular and cheaper Moto G4.

4. Price

The last key difference between each phone is its price. The Motorola Moto G4 comes in under £100 cheaper than the G4 Plus offering, a key factor in your decision between the handsets.

The Motorola Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are both available to purchase Sim Free and Unlocked for delivery in the UK and internationally.
