Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Still Leaders in the Mobile Market

Unsurprisingly, the latest handsets from Apple are still outselling their competitors, placing Apple back on top of the Mobile leaderboard.

According to a new report from Strategy Analytics, the recent sales of the iPhone 7 placed Apple back on top as the world’s ‘top smartphone vendor’, as shipments hit 439 million units in Q4 2016.

Apple capitalised on Samsung’s Note 7 battery disaster, capturing 17.8% of the Q4 market share, compared to Samsung’s  17.7%. Whilst Apple took over the lead (if only by 0.1%) Samsung’s market share was at its lowest since 2011, resulting in a 21 percent share for the full year.

Apple released their earnings earlier this month, reporting sales figures of  78.3 million iPhones, higher than the 76.3 million forecast by Wall Street.

All eyes will be on Samsung at MWC17, with the rumoured release of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Will they pack enough into their new flagship to take back the winning title in this closely fought battle of the tech giants?
