Bixby 2.0 is on its way and we’re excited

The popular source for Samsung leaks, The Korea Herald, have hinted that Bixby 2.0 will be unveiled at Samsung’s annual Developer Conference in San Francisco in less than a week.

Bixby is Samsung’s take on the virtual assistant (similar to Apple’s Siri), which combines machine learning, voice assistance, visual help and more into an all-encompassing helper.

We are predicting significant changes to the Virtual Assistant, as Samsung have appointed a new service intelligence group head to drive Bixby improvements.

Koh Dong-jin (Samsung’s mobile business chief) has stated that the “ will supplement the incomplete parts of Bixby 1.0 at Bixby 2.0.” and the new version might  expand into third-party services and products. This suggests that Samsung are heading in the same direct as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, with Bixby being rolled out to other devices from a range of manufacturers.

“Outside developers will participate in the development of Bixby 2.0 although they could not for Bixby 1.0 due to time shortage,” he added.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed that Bixby 2.0 is coming next week, but keep an eye on the blog where we’ll be reporting updates as they occur.

Enjoy the benefits of Bixby on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge.
