The New Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Now Available

Following in the tracks of the iPhone 5S and 5C are the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus from Apple. The major difference between the two new devices is the size, the 6 Plus having a larger screen and body. Both are beautifully designed each with a curved aluminium body, the iPhone 6 being just 6.8 mm thick and the iPhone 6 Plus 7.1 mm thick. The iPhone 6 Plus is a full 2 cms taller and 1 cm wider than the iPhone 6 making the Plus a little difficult to use unless you have large hands.

The iPhone 6 Plus has a large 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 compared to the 4.7 inch display on the iPhone 6 which has a resolution of 1334 x 750. The display on the iPhone 6 Plus is much sharper with a pixel density of 401ppi compared to 326ppi on the iPhone 6. Naturally the larger screen is beneficial for watching movies or surfing the web.

Both devices sport an 8 megapixel camera and have identical front facing cameras for video calling and selfies. The major difference between the two is that the iPhone 6 Plus comes with Optical Image Stabilisation which eliminates blur from images. Both devices run iOS 8 and even though the iPhone 6 Plus has a larger screen you can still only get the same number of apps on the home screen.

Apple has used the same A8 processor in both devices and an M8 co-processor which manages the data in an energy efficient manner, giving better battery life. The iPhone 6 comes with an 1810 mAh battery while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 2915mAh battery.

Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have the same processor and cameras but the iPhone 6 Plus does arrive with a larger display and better battery life. And both are available in Space Grey, Silver and Gold. Big or small the choice is yours.
