HTC Smart Review

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

The HTC Smart offers an affordable alternative to the wealth of high-end Smartphones and eye-catching alternatives, such as the HTC Desire and Blackberry 9700, for those who are looking for a feature packed handset on a budget.  We have tested the HTC Smart to see whether it can fight off competition from its bigger, more expensive opponents.

The HTC Smart is light-weight, compact and sleek and we were extremely impressed with the speed at which the handset operates. Despite housing a smaller processor than the HTC Desire (a 300MHz processor with 256MB of RAM), menus load quickly and apps work with minimal lag. The HTC Smart runs on Qualcomm’s BREW Operating System, but you can also take advantage of HTC Sense UI complete with Friend Stream social network integration.

The camera on the back allows you to capture your special moments with 3 megapixel images, and a built-in LED flash too, which is quite impressive for the price tag. However, the most appealing feature offered on the HTC Smart is the Sense feature, which allows you to stream all of your details for Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites, into HTC’s FriendStream application. This allows even the chattiest of social networkers to keep in the loop 24/7.

Whilst the HTC Smart can’t offer the same heavy-weight feature punch as the HTC Desire and HTC Legend, it does allow users who are on a budget to get a taste of higher end Smartphone features without breaking the bank. The HTC Smart looks the part and offers some user-friendly features and apps that will keep even the pickiest user happy. You can order the HTC Smart Sim Free online now from Unlocked Mobiles.

Apple iPhone 4 Mobile Phone

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

When the widely anticipated Apple iPhone 4 16GB Sim-free Unlocked mobile phone landed at our desks we were incredibly excited. We are pleased to say we were not disappointed with what the new and improved handset had to offer.

The first thing which stuck us about the Apple iPhone 4 16GB was the incredible Retina display.  The clarity of the image is top-notch as the 960×640 display is packed so full with pixels (326 pixels per inch). This is officially more than the eye can cope with!  This high-res display’s contrast ratios and image processing also overshadows anything on offer from the competitors.

Secondly, whilst video calling isn’t exactly new technology, the iPhone 4 brings it right back into the 21st Century with the impressive FaceTime facility. FaceTime couldn’t be easier to use as it works straight out of the box.  Simply make a normal voice call and if both parties are on a WiFi connection you are just one tap away from enabling FaceTime.

The iPhone 4 is also perfect for busy users with its new multitasking features. This provides users with the ability to use third-party applications alongside other apps without having to terminate them. This means, for example, that you can listen to streamed audio whilst downloading a new game, or even continue your conversation on Skype whilst finding your way using the GPS.

The Apple iPhone 4 is also bound to appeal to keen amateur photographers, as it provides an impressive 5 megapixel camera and a high definition video recorder with built in improved iMovie app, allowing you to edit your creations on the go. We were also pleased to see that the 2 way camera was not only useful when using FaceTime, but also allowed you to focus your camera either front facing or rear facing objects.

Still offering a sleek, scratch proof and lightweight package, the Apple iPhone 4 is weighty competition for HTC’s Desire and Samsung’s Galaxy S, which claim to offer similar features on an Android platform.  The wait is over, get your Apple iPhone 4 16GB Sim Free before they live up to the astounding hype and disappear off our shelves!

Samsung B5722 Review

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Samsung have recently released the slim and curvaceous Samsung B5722. Similar in design to the Samsung B3410, the Samsung B5722 offers a glossy finish that oozes sophistication. It measures 104 x 54.9 x 14.4 mm and weighs around 105grams and comes with an impressive 2.8 inch QVGA touch screen, which offers resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and supports 256K colours.  However, the main attraction of Samsung’s B5722 is the impressive dual SIM capabilities.

If you are always trying to juggle work and pleasure then the Samsung B5722 is the phone for you. With dual SIM capacity, you can run and manage two SIM cards and therefore two mobile phone numbers from the convenience of one handset. The dual SIM option is perfect to manage business and personal calls without having to remember two handsets for both of your roles in life. Not only that, we found that dual SIM also proves handy if you want to take advantage of differing offers and promotions from two networks.  We found switching between the two SIMS to be extremely simple, with no need to reboot, both SIMS are just a tap away.

With phones such as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the HTC Wildfire offering excellent access to social networking site, we were pleased to see that Samsung have also provided good inclusion of these ever popular apps on the B5722. Despite the lack of 3G and Wi-Fi, users can still easily update the status on the likes of Facebook, Myspace and Twitter on the go and upload photos taken from the 3.2 mega pixel camera with a handy built in flash. You can also access multiple instant messaging services on the Palringo messenger, including GTalk, AIM and ICQ.

The Samsung B5722 also provides good music features, such as a built-in music play compatible with WMA, MP3 and eAAC+ files and a built-in FM radio which provides track and artist information for your pleasure. You can also play diverse video files on the B5722 such as H.263, H.264, MP4 and WMV files, perfect for keeping you entertained whatever your style.

Nokia 5228 Arrives

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Nokia have released the Nokia 5228, a simple, yet fun Smartphone ideal for those who like to keep in touch and be entertained.  Nokia’s 5228 is a lightweight option, at only 113g and offers a sleek style, similar in design to the Nokia 5230 with smooth curved edges and a clean, clear frontage. The home screen provides some personalisation options and includes a handy Media Bar touch key, which provides great access your music, gallery, video centre and web browser with just one touch.

Like the Nokia N900, the 5228 is packed with Resistive Touch Technology, meaning you can chose to use a stylus to navigate the responsive 3.2inch touch screen. The handwriting recognition option when messaging is a love it or hate it option.  For those who are dubious about handwriting their texts, we found that after a bit of practise it was quite feasible to pick up a respectable word per minute rate. However, for an easier option when texting or emailing, Nokia have also included an on-screen QWERTY keyboard.

The Nokia 5228 is certainly appealing to music lovers. The handset supports a wide range of music formats, including MP3, AAC, eAAC+, WMA and WAV. Whilst you can chose to use a standard 3.5mm headset with the 5228, we loved the wireless option of using our Bluetooth headset to listen to the music, and surprisingly audio quality through this option was not compromised. Not only that, your music library is also only a touch away, with Nokia Ovi Player accessible on the Media bar located on the home screen. Nokia also advertise up to 33 hours of music time without the need for a charge, which is a bonus in our eyes!

A reliable 2 mega pixel camera with video recording options means you can capture special moments and share them via Ovi share. The Nokia 5228 will also provide you with access to all that Ovi has to offer, including Ovi mail and instant messaging. You will also be able to quench your social networking thirst with access to a range of networking sites including Facebook and Twitter.

Whilst the Nokia 5228 doesn’t promise you the high-tech functions of the similarly priced Android Motorola Backflip, it does promise quality and reliability with touches of fun and entertainment. You can Pre Order the Nokia 5228 Sim Free and get a variety of Nokia 5228 Accessories online.

Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 Review

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Samsung are now offering a new affordable Android 2.1 handset, the Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5. Upon first glance, the I5500 Galaxy 5 shares it sleek curved edged design with the previously released Samsung Genio Touch, but enjoys the modern twist of the chrome edging.  We were impressed to see that Samsung have included Android 2.1 on the handset, making it an appealing alternative to the Motorola Milestone.

Thanks to Android 2.1, the Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 is a fun and easy Smartphone to use.  The 600 MHz processor means you can whizz through up to nine home screens without lag, making the phone a responsive handset to run. We were also impressed that you could choose between Samsung’s standard keypad or a more useful QWERTY keypad at the click of a button.

The 2.8 inch touch screen of the Galaxy 5 provides vivid colours and good resolution for viewing the photographs taken on the capable 2.0 mega pixel camera. The auto rotate function is also good when showing off your photos/videos as it allows you to choose whether you view the files horizontally or vertically.

Music lovers will be pleased to hear that Google have updated the music player on the Android 2.1, and there is an FM radio built into the handset. Audio quality is also impressive when using the 3.5mm headset jack. Social networkers will also love the I5500 Galaxy 5 as it comes pre-loaded with Samsung’s Social Hub and Facebook Application.

Connectivity on the Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 is good. A strong Wi-Fi connection allows you to hook onto any wireless network on the go and the HSDPA connectivity provides a great browsing experience. The I5500 Galaxy 5 also comes with built in GPS, a must for those who travel and Bluetooth allows you to share files quickly and easily.

The Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 is a perfect handset if you are new to the Android market and don’t wish to premium price tags of the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S. It is a sleek, curvy and lightweight design perfect for any pocket!  You can buy the Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 Sim Free and a variety of Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 Accessories now.

Sony Ericsson W20i Zylo Pink Mobile Phone

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Sony Ericsson have created a new phone, perfect for those who enjoy the musical features of the Walkman but want an up to date musical experience. Like the Sony Ericsson W995, the W20i Zylo is a feature packed Walkman phone. The Sony Ericsson W20i Zylo, in fashionable pink, offers an impressive Walkman player interface, which allows you to manage your musical tastes and sounds. We particularly enjoyed the Track-ID feature, which when presented with a recording of a new song you’ve heard on the go, will send you the information about the track, including the song name, artist and album title. The High definition FLAC format also provided high quality playback and the external speakers provided a surprisingly good volume without the tinny quality so many phones suffer from.

The Sony Ericsson Zylo also offers a funny little feature which kept us amused for hours – the ‘Music Call’ option. You can choose to have your favourite music track piped into the background of your call, but if you want to take the call up a notch chose from a range of special effects. Supposed to be somewhere and not even left the house yet? Play the traffic noise sound effects over the phone to convince the caller that you’re stuck in traffic, not lazing in bed!

You won’t be disappointed with the W20i Zylo if you are a social networking addict. Included on the handset is a Facebook application, which will move a widget onto your homescreen for easy access. With the sharing options you can also upload any photographs taken on the substantial 3.2 mega pixel camera straight onto your Twitter, Facebook or web emails, as well as via the more usual email or messaging options. The Zylo is Email supported and is an impressive messaging phone; it is also fast to type out any SMS messages with the usual Sony Ericsson predictive text.

In terms of connectivity, the phone offers 3G HSDPA, which means you have a fast data stream. One feature missing on the Zylo was Wi-Fi, however the browser throws up a mobile version of Google searches and allows you to view the full version after an additional click. You also get Bluetooth connectivity on the handset.

What most struck us about the Sony Ericsson W20i Zylo was its easy use. Unlike the latest Smartphones such as the new Blackberry Torch 9800 or the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, the Zylo offers a simple to use mobile phone, with good messaging and music features. You can even hook the handset up to Windows 7 to sync your latest music downloads.  You can order Sony Ericsson W20i Zylo Pink Sim Free and a variety of Sony Ericsson W20i Zylo Pink Accessories online now.

Samsung C3300 Review

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Samsung have proudly released one of the most affordable touch screen handsets on the market, the Samsung c3300 Champ. But considering the price, we were left wondering where it could possible stand up to the big boys of the touch screen market, such as the ever popular HTC Desire or the Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB. Here at Unlocked-mobiles.com, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of features Samsung managed to pack into such a compact, entry-level mobile phone.

The Samsung C3300 Champ has a reasonable 2.4 inch TFT resistive touchscreen which provides easy navigation around the customisable home screen. We also like the TouchWiz Lite interface of the C3300 Champ, which gives even the most sociable of users enough access to an abundance of social networking options, including integrated social tools from the likes of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. You can also access pre-installed widgets, including Gmail.

Whilst the in-built 1.3 mega pixel camera is not the best the market has to offer, it is substantial enough to capture memories on the go. You can even store plenty of these files using the expandable memory of up to 8 gigabytes, depending on your choice of MicroSD card. The camera also offers a handy video recording option, allowing you to shoot home-movies wherever you find yourself.

Music fans will not be disappointed as the Samsung C3300 has an MP3 player, FM radio and a 3.5-millimeter jack for standard headphones. The lightweight handset also manages to pack in a handy set of integrated stereo speakers with 3D sound effects.

Blackberry VM-605 Visor Bluetooth Car Kit Review

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Enjoy your Blackberry handset on the road with the Blackberry VM-605 Visor Bluetooth Car Kit. The Blackberry VM 605 kit is stylish, slim and efficiently designed. The kit sits almost flush against your visor so as not to obstruct your view out of the windscreen, or you can remove the mounting clip and rest the charger on your dashboard using the non slip pad.

When testing the VM-605 car kit we were overwhelmed by how easy (and therefore safe) it was to use. There is one large button on the front of the Blackberry VM 605 Bluetooth handset which acts as answer/end call key and the on/off key, as well as activating the useful voice dialling option or redial feature. When you find yourself in the midst of rush hour, the volume key is handily located on the side of the device. We found the built in speaker was powerful enough to provide a clear calling experience on the most noisy and fast paced motorway drives.

When using the Blackberry VM-605 Visor Bluetooth car kit we appreciated the option to use the simple to use FM transmitter to listen to our calls through our car stereo system. We were even able to listen to the music stored on our Blackberry Pearl 3G via the Bluetooth kit. We even found that setting up the transmitter was extremely quick and easy, simply activate the transmitter on the kit and re-tune your radio.

Overall, we found that as one of the few Blackberry accessories out there, the VM-605 Visor kit is well designed, well thought out, efficient and stylish – a great option for all. You can get the Blackberry VM-605 Visor Bluetooth Car Kit online now.

Blackberry Torch 9800 Arrives

Monday, August 9th, 2010

We are extremely excited to announce the up and coming release of Blackberry’s first ever slide handset, the Blackberry Torch 9800. Not only are Blackberry offering a new style handset, with complete slide out QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen display, but they are also using the Torch 9800 to launch their impressive new more user-friendly operating system, Blackberry 6.

Blackberry 6 claims to make it easier than ever to stay connected. It offers Blackberry Messenger that allows you to view updates from all of your Social networking sites and RSS feeds in one universal inbox stopping the need to skip from app to app. We also enjoyed the ‘faster, richer web browsing experience’ which did genuinely allow us to skip from web-page to web-page with minimal lag using the tabbed browser. Unlike Blackberry 8520 Curve we were also pleased to see that the Blackberry Torch came preloaded with Blackberry App World 2.0 which made uploading new apps easier and quicker. We also had a pleasant experience when testing out the new camera modes, video camera, YouTube and photo sharing apps.

Unlike the current Blackberry 9700, the RIM Blackberry Torch 9800 offers Universal Search - a handy feature that automatically searches for everything relevant, including contacts, emails and more. We were also extremely to see a connectivity which offered GPS, Wi-Di  and 3G, coupled with 8 GB of internal memory that can be expanded to an incredible 32 GB.   The 3.2 inch HVGA+ display  completed the high-tech, pleasurable experience of the Blackberry Torch 9800.
