What is Dolby Atmos on Samsung Galaxy smartphones?

Thursday, December 9th, 2021

You might have seen signs advertising Dolby Atmos everywhere as it’s being marketed all over the place. You may think… what the heck is Dolby Atmos? Does it even make that much of a difference?

It does.

Dolby Atmos is an impressive new technology that brings movie theatre level surround-sound into your daily life – it gives you a better, smoother listening experience when you enjoy your music and other digital content. In fact, Dolby describes Atmos as, “the most significant development in audio since surround sound.”

Here’s where it gets a little interesting – Atmos creates 3D surround-sound, also known as spatial sound, by adding variable height for sounds. You might be wondering… what is 3D surround sound? Well, it’s similar to how sound works in real life. Sound naturally comes from all directions. Therefore, 3D surround-sound comes from above, below, and around! For instance, when a plane flies above your home, you hear that it’s above you. The same goes for when your annoying downstairs neighbour blasts music at 6AM – you can tell that the sound is coming from directly below you. Basically, Dolby Atmos recreates real life and delivers it straight through your headphones or speakers.

Atmos can be found on Samsung Galaxy S20 Series phones as well as many other newer Samsung devices. On your Samsung device, can enjoy Atmos with earphones,  bluetooth headsets, or bluetooth speakers. Furthermore, there are four different settings for Dolby Atmos on a Samsung phone: Auto, Movie, Music, and Voice. Auto adjusts to whatever you’re listening to, Movie is ideal for films, Music makes music sound richer and more balanced, and Voice helps make voices louder and clearer. There’s also an Equaliser setting where you can adjust the decibels based on the sound you’re listening to (there are Classic, Pop, Normal Jazz, Rock, and Custom settings). Atmos on the Samsung Galaxy even has a setting for gaming (“Dolby atmos for gaming” setting) that provides you with the best audio experience when you play games on your Samsung Galaxy phone. It creates all sorts of audio magic by mixing your audio in real time, based on your Atmos settings.

What will you listen to with Dolby Atmos?

Experience Dolby Atmos.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 vs Galaxy Fold: What should you buy?

Thursday, July 29th, 2021

fhWfuAhhoJNN7BnP3qDMsT

The Samsung Galaxy Fold series is one of the most innovative recent developments in the mobile industry. It features a book-style design with a vertical fold, revolutionizing our conceptions of modern smartphones. If you’re looking to upgrade to a foldable smartphone, you’re probably looking at the recent Samsung products. Now the real question is, how do you decide between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 vs Galaxy Fold? And is there actually a difference? Here’s a clear and easy breakdown to help you decide what phone is the best for you.

Price

Money makes the world go around. Getting a new Samsung Galaxy Fold is an investment so let’s break down what you’ll pay for each phone. The Samsung Galaxy Fold starts at £1,800. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 was released in 2020 at £1,999 but it can be picked up right here on Unlocked Mobiles for £1,124. That saves you over £800! Best bang for your buck? Buying on Unlocked Mobiles saves you money on both phones and offers Sim Freedom to maximize your savings!

Design
Both the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 feature a book-style design with a vertical fold. The Galaxy Fold measures at 160.9 x 62.8 x 17.1mm when folded and 160.9 x 117.9 x 7.6mm when unfolded. There’s a triple camera on the rear and a dual camera on the front. The frame is made from stainless steel and the device comes in two colour options of Space Silver and Cosmos Black. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes in two colours: Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black. There are also four hinge customisation options: Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue, Metallic Gold. The Z Fold 2 is slimmer but wider than the Fold, measuring at 159.2 x 68 x 16.8mm folded and 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9mm unfolded. The hinge has also been redesigned, allowing for opening at different angles. In a stylistic touch, the gap between the hinge and display has been reduced. The Z Fold 2 has the same rear camera display, however a punch hole camera has been added on the front, right side of the internal display. Our Vote? Both feature advanced camera systems and sleek designs. The Galaxy Fold is perfect for those who want a smaller display and more traditional colours. It comes down to personal colour and design preference.

Display
The Samsung Galaxy Fold has a 7.3-inch display when unfolded and a 4.6-inch external display when folded. The display is AMOLED with a resolution of 2152 x 1536 that delivers a pixel density of 362ppi. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a 7.6-inch screen when unfolded and a 6.2-inch screen when folded. It offers an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and has a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels, delivering a pixel density of 372ppi.
Can you see the light? For a bigger and brighter display, I recommend the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Summary
So there you have it! There’s no wrong choice. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Fold are both sleek, high-speed devices that excel industry-wide in display quality, performance and photography. If you want my two cents, I’d go with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 for the best design, display quality, and most powerful camera system. You can pick up both phones on Unlocked Mobiles now for unbelievable savings!
