Sony has announced its new flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia Z2. With a familiar Xperia Z  design,the Z2  is very similar to the Z1, but with some changes.

The new Z2 is slimmer, now only 8.2mm thick, some 3mm slimmer than its predecessor. The larger screen size of 5.2 inches makes the Z2 slightly taller. With a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, providing 423 ppi, and excellent viewing angles, images appear clear and sharp.

As with the Z1, the Z2 is dustproof and waterproof in up to a metre of water for up to 30 minutes. With 3GB of RAM, running on Android KitKat 4.4.2, and with the latest 2.3GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, the Z2 has all the connectivity needed. It also has a microSd card support and a 3200mAh battery.

The Z2 has the same 20.7 megapixel camera as the Z1 and you can capture 4K video and play it back, with the ability to zoom in on anything particularly interesting.  The Z2 comes with SteadyShot image stabilisation, which takes the shake out of the shot. The Z2 also arrives with Timeshift video, which allows you to shoot video at 120fps in HD 720p. Once you’ve finished recording you can select sections to slow down to a quarter of the speed.
