HTC Snap Arrives

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

We are pleased to announce the arrival of a new, surprisingly lightweight smartphone, the HTC Snap. The HTC Snap is a Windows Mobile 6.1 bStandard phone that offers a perfect alternative to the Blackberry 8520 Curve and Nokia E71. When first handling the HTC Snap, we were surprised at the lightweight, slim-line feel to the handset, which coupled with the functionality of the four row QWERTY keyboard, makes it an ideal Smartphone for messaging.  We were also impressed to see that HTC have used, for the first time, the trackball for navigation around the screen which more than makes up for the lack of touch screen navigation and will also appeal to the multitude of Blackberry users on the current market.

Connectivity on the HTC Snap is also significant, with both HSDPA and Wi-Fi support for browsing and Bluetooth for wireless car kits and headsets. When testing the connectivity, we found the web browsing on the HTC Snap to be excellent. Scrolling is made easy thanks to the trackball and we found that web-pages rendered quickly. We were also pleased with the A-GPS, which offers sat nav software and Google maps, detecting satellites quickly and efficiently.  There is also a mini USB connector on the right edge of the casing which is perfect for mains power, connecting to a PC and plugging in the supplied headset.

We are most excited about the Inner Circle feature on the HTC Snap, which is opened by a dedicated inner circle navigation key.  The Inner Circle feature is the ultimate messaging short-cut for those who like to prioritize their time, contacts and messages. By using the Inner circle menu you can easily search and nominate your favourite contacts to become Inner Circle members. After that the e-mail items of these contacts are filtered and sent to the top of your inbox list. The application even searches for your Inner Circle members in different accounts if you so wish. A perfect addition to the Smartphone, which prevents you swimming through Junk-mail to find those important messages.

For a handset in the same price bracket as the BlackBerry Curve 8900, the HTC Snap is offering a great alternative choice for those who want a Windows Mobile smartphone with the added features of 3G or Wi-Fi.
