A look at the charities supported by the iPhone 8 (RED) and iPhone 8 Plus (RED)

For over 11 years Apple have been partnering with charity (RED) to help reduce the transmission of HIV from a mother to her unborn child.

(RED) supports The Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants in eight countries with a goal of virtually eliminating transmission of the virus from moms to their babies.

By purchasing the iPhone 8 (RED) and iPhone 8 Plus (RED) you are directly contributing to the Global Fund fight against AIDS/HIV. The Global Fund use 100% of the (RED) funds to finance AIDS programs in Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia.

Here’s some examples of where your money is making an impact:

Rise Club – South Africa

Providing much needed positive peer interaction and safe spaces for young women and girls to share and grow, Rise Club was founded as a response to the high rates of HIV infection among teenage girls and young women in South Africa.

Linking young women with essential services such as HIV testing, counseling, and treatment, sexual reproductive health services, and educational and economic opportunities, these clubs provide a platform for young women to support each other in navigating the social and cultural challenges that can contribute to increased HIV/STI infections, teen pregnancy and school dropouts.

Kimisigara Youth Center – Rwanda

Kimisigara Youth Center in Rwanda provides community-based services that empower peer mentors to combat stigma and keep fellow youth active and engaged in protecting themselves from HIV.

Kimisigara serves hundreds of young people every day, offering HIV testing, counseling and prevention services—all of which are fully integrated into life skills programming including IT education, vocational training, and physical fitness clubs.
