1. Design

At first glance, both handsets look very much the same. Theres 5-inch 1080p OLED display and on-screen navigation buttons. the logo and fingerprint sensor are the same and there’s the same aluminum back with the top third of which is glass.

But that’s where the similarity end.

Pixel 2 puts a speaker in both of those bezels for front facing speakers. But they have removed the headphone jack.

the Pixel 2 is fractionally taller and wider than the Pixel but it is thinner.

The Pixel 2 adds IP67 dust and water resistance which was a big omission from the original Pixels and allows full submersion of the phone in up to one metre of water for up to 30 minutes

 2.The latest Snapdragon

The Pixel 2 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which is more power efficient than the Snapdragon 821 in the original Pixel.  claiming 27% greater performance and 30% more efficiency. It is also faster and offers improved wireless support for the next generation.

The Snapdragon 835 offers better multimedia input abilities through the camera as well as better output support for what you see on the screen. The Snapdragon 835 of the Pixel 2 also outshines the 821 when it comes to LTE network technology, thanks to the first SoC that theoretically offers faster LTE speeds,

3. Active Edge

Squeezable phones were first released by HTC, and now Google have added the ability to Simply grip the phone tighter to launch Assistant to the Pixel 2 . the original Pixel doesn’t have the hardware mechanisms to support Active Edge, so if it’s something you’re looking for, an upgrade to the Pixel 2 is worthwhile.

4. The Camera:

The original Pixel and Pixel XL are remembered for their incredible cameras. Now Google looks set to lead the smartphone camera pack once again as the Pixel 2 is rated as having the best smartphone camera ever tested.

Improvements include the addition of optical image stabilization, and a wider aperture, now at f/1.8, which should make up for the slight reduction in pixel size in the imaging sensor.

There’s also the addition of the Pixel Visual Core,Google’s first custom system-on-a-chip (SOC) for consumer products, that accelerates the HDR+ camera magic that makes Pixel photos so uniquely superior.

The Pixel 2 adds ‘Motion Photos’ (a rip-off of Apple’s Live Photos that ripped off Nokia’s Living Images) which creates 3 second short videos around the photos you take to bring them to life.

Finally the Pixel 2’s camera adds Google Lens which allows you to perform searches from the photos you take, and wider support for Augmented Reality

The front camera of the Pixel 2 has also bumped up from 7MP to 8MP.
