‘Ingress Protection’ (IP) ratings are used to define levels of a mobile phone’s resistance to dust, dirt and moisture. The good news for the LG V40 ThinQ is that the IP68 is the highest rating you can get when it comes to protecting your phone from these foreign objects. The 6 part of the rating suggests the LG V40 ThinQ is completely dust tight and the 8 shows that the device is protected against the effects of submersion in water (well, for 30 minutes), at a depth of up to 1.5 metres.
Further protection comes from the integrated heat pipe. Made from copper, heat pipes are commonly used in laptops and personal computers to prevent the processors from overheating, but with issues of overheating hitting the headlines these past years, there’s a common reason to include them in our handheld technology. LG’s innovative Heat Pipe will absorb and redirect heat away from the processor to help minimise the risk of overheating.
