Release Date:

February – March 2018 in line with Mobile World Congress

Display:

Rumours suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will offer the same size Super AMOLED display and aspect ratio as the Samsung Galaxy S8, with a 5.8 inch screen with a ratio of 18.5:9.

Synoptics have  recently announced an in screen  scanner, the Clear ID FS9500, which is described as the “world’s first in-display fingerprint sensor for smartphones.” The company have strongly suggested that it could be featured in the Samsung Galaxy S9′s infinity display below the glass of the screen.

We’re also likely to see the new glass coating that makes water bounce off the display that was licensed by Samsung in late 2016.

Design

We recently published some render sketches that suggests the S9 is very similar in design tot he S8 apart from a move of the fingerprint scanner beneath the camera lens.

We’re likely to see the use of curved glass, small bezels, a Bixby button and a 3.5mm headphone port.

Camera:

We’re expecting a Samsung Galaxy S9 is rumored to be able to shoot some incredible slow motion video.

Weibo (a Chinese microblogging platform) published a sketch suggesting that the S9 appears to be just a single-lens camera (not the dual-lens of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8), with the fingerprint sensor directly underneath the camera lens. One source saying that while the S9 Plus will have a dual-lens snapper for added camera capabilities. Chipset changes may also allow the camera to record 4K Ultra HD video at 60fps.

Samsung might also offer a new way for you to unlock your phone, with rumours claiming that the Galaxy S9 will have a ’3D sensor front camera’.

Power and Connectivity:

We are expecting the S9 to be powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 oct-core chip, with four cores running at 2.8GHz and four at 1.8GHz.  Delivering up to 30% better performance than the fastest cores in the Snapdragon 835, we’re expecting better graphic performance and AI processing.  We expect 4GB RAM to accompany.
