The BlackBerry Classic is just a few days away

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

The long awaited Blackberry Classic is due within a couple of days. With a very similar design to the Blackberry Bold 9900, the BlackBerry Classic is aimed at die-hard BlackBerry fans and business users who hold security and speedy communications above the touch screen, app heavy features of traditional smart phones.

Design wise, the Classic is quintessential Blackberry, thanks to the QWERTY keyboard, navigation buttons and business like appearance. Reminiscent of the Blackberries from the past, the Blackberry Classic looks back the glory days of Blackberry not only in design, but also in specs.

Key features include a square 3.5 inch 720p LCD display, 1.5GHz dual core CPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset and 2 GB of Ram.

Included in the handset is a 8 mega pixel forward facing camera, with auto focus, digital image stabilization and an 2 megapixel front facing camera. Enjoy 1080 p video capture and 16GB of built in storage, with microSD card slot for expandable storage.

Running on Blackberry 10.3 OS, users will enjoy the Virtual assistant, and the ability to run Android applications (via Amazon Appstore). Navigation is via a series of touch gestures, with familiar Blackberry swipe controles.

Offering a larger screen than the Bold 9900 and the Blackberry Q10 and a battery promising enough power for 22 hours of use, the Blackberry Classic is not only good looking but practical too.

Upon our testing, we found the keyboard excellent for typing and the trackpad made navigation easy.  BlackBerry is definitely going back to what it knows best.

BlackBerry Passport expected to arrive soon

Friday, August 22nd, 2014

Get ready for what is, perhaps, the most exciting announcement from Blackberry this year… the Blackberry Passport is ready to land. Over the next week we will be bringing you insights into the ‘revolutionary’ new handset, which Blackberry promises will have us clamouring to purchase.

Today we take a look at what is perhaps Blackberry’s signature piece, the QWERTY keyboard, which we have seen on the BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Q5.

Crackberry addicts often cite their loyalty to the brand due to the easy to use keyboard and it looks like they are about to cash in their loyalty with a very notable upgrade.  This revolutionary new physical keyboard provides you more ways to control and navigate your smartphone thanks to its impressive response to touch. Rows of touch-sensitive keys combine the tactile efficiency we come to expect of Blackberry, with touchscreen like navigation to enhance productivity.

Blackberry’s QWERTY keyboard’s revolutionary response to touch provides you more ways to control your smartphone without having to use the touchscreen. Whilst it might sound slightly odd to control a Smartphone from the keyboard rather than the touchscreen, Blackberry have cleverly continued to target their loyal Business users, who depend on the ease of a physical keyboard to fire off emails quick fast but want the feel of a smartphone.

The rumoured capacitive touch keyboard will allow users to perform gestures to delete words, predict text or scroll browsers on the actual keys.  Developers will be able to use the new keyboard in their apps, bloggers will navigate web pages and bash out their latest piece on the go, whilst business professionals will be able to read documents faster, all whilst enjoying the ease of fast, efficient typing .

The innovate Blackberry keyboard also promises the following:

  • Faster scrolling
  • Intuitive cursor control
  • Intuitive text selection
  • Contextual virtual keys
  • Flick to type
  • Easer delete
  • Easier access to scented characters

As Blackberry themselves state, they’ve  ‘taken something great – the BlackBerry 10 keyboard – and innovated with the boundary-breaking design of the BlackBerry Passport form factor, while staying focused on one thing: YOUR productivity.’
