Samsung Galaxy S7 to have a Jet Black Makeover

Monday, November 28th, 2016

Samsung are looking to gloss over the Note 7 disaster with an updated, highly coveted Jet Black edition of the Samsung Galaxy S7.

According to The Korea HeraldSamsung will be following in the footsteps of Apple once again, filling the void of the Note 7 with one of the most popular mobile colour of the year. Earlier this year we saw the release of the Galaxy s7 ‘Pink Gold’ which offered an Android alternative to the iPhone 6s Rose Gold handsets.

It appears that Samsung are combining this colour strategy with  generous cash benefits, in an attempt to boost demand for the nine-month-old Galaxy S7 over the brand new iPhone 7.

Here’s the specs for the Samsung Galaxy S7 if you’re interested in one of the most successful flagships of 2016:

  • OS: Android v6.0 (Marshmallow OS)
  • Processor:Octa Core Snapdragon 820 / Exynos 8890, 64 bit Chipset
  • Display: 5.1 inch
  • Memory: 32GB with expandable memory
  • RAM: 3GB
  • Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass 5, IP67 Water & Dust Resistance

Samsung tell us what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy S8

Friday, October 28th, 2016

It’s not unusual to see rumours circulating handset releases, but what is unusual is for the manufacturers to be the ones leaking information ahead of the big launch.

samsung galaxy s8

But, in what some may call an attempt to reinstall excitement to Samsung handsets, Lee Jae-Yong told the Wall Street Journal that the Galaxy S8 will have “a slick design and an improved camera.” Exciting news as the S8′s predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S7, already provides an incredible photographic experience.

Lee Jae-Yong also confirmed that the device will offer better artificial intelligence, but failed to confirm whether the S8 would include Viv’s technology.

Non-confirmed rumours for the S8 updates include:

  • Optical Fingerprint Recognition Technology
  •  5.5-inch 4K display
  • 6GB of RAM
  • The removal of the home button
  • Snapdragon 830

Will the Note 7 disaster bring an end to Samsung’s future Note devices?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2016

The launch of the Galaxy Note 7 was an undoubtable debacle for Samsung, creating fears that the Note series will be haunted by memories of exploding batteries for years to come.

note 7

To add insult to injury, new reports from South Korean news outlet Newsis aren’t helping the tech giants reputation. Their latest report suggests that the flagship phablet from Samsung could be killed off completely, with Samsung reducing releases to a single premium phone annually to ensure product quality. An insider from Samsung’s Russian operations has also reported that the Note brand is feeling the pressure following the company’s decision to announce the end of the Galaxy Note 7 (source:PhoneArena.)

This news obviously has not been confirmed by Samsung, but there are two things we know for sure;

1. Samsung will certainly be working had to make changes to its current marketing strategy to gain back the confidence of the consumer, which can only result in some exciting tech advancements in the future.

2. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are still one of our favourite and most reliable Android handsets released this year.

Android Marshmallow: Now on Tap

Tuesday, July 12th, 2016

The future of Google searching is here in the form of Now on Tap.

The main idea of Google’s Now on Tap is to extend the reach of Google across your mobile, making it easier and faster to find the information you need.

Android now on tap

Now on Tap is integrated into Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and can be used by holding down the home button. Once activated, Google performs a search and scan of the current screen, providing relevant information than may be of use such as web links, directions etc.

How to use Now on Tap on your Android handset:

  1. On any screen, touch and hold the Home button.
  2. Google uses what’s on your screen to show you related info, apps, and actions

Now on tap

So, how would you use Now on Tap during everyday life?

Google gives the following examples:

  • Restaurants: Find restaurants and other points of interest mentioned on screen.
  • Movies: See reviews and info about a cast using the film name.
  • Music: Get details about a song or artist from within your app.
  • People: Learn about famous people and celebrities in the news.
  • Images: Get info about artwork, product logos, landmarks, and more.

Searching images on Google isn’t exactly a new thing, but with Now on Tap you literally replace search terms with an image. For example, if you can take a photograph of Big Ben, hold the home button to activate Now on Tap and the handset will analyse the image contents to provide you more information on this tourist attraction.  It can even work and analyse photos direct from your camera app.

Now on Tap is an innovative feature that is continually being developed and improved by Google and we’re certainly excited to use it.
