Keep your data Secure with Samsung KNOX on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

Friday, June 22nd, 2018

In an age where protecting your digital data is at the forefront of our minds and companies like BlackBerry are promising the most secure Android experience on their BlackBerry KEY2, Samsung are upping their game with some strong guarantees.

Samsung have preloaded their Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus with their high end security platform, KNOX. Let’s take a look at how these flagship devices are promising to protect your data on the go:

What is KNOX?

Samsung Knox Security

KNOX is Samsung’s defense-grade mobile security platform built into our devices. Simply turn on the device, and you’re protected.

By building a hardware-rooted trusted environment, KNOX provides a trusted environment, ensuring that enterprise-critical operations such as decryption of enterprise data, can only occur when core system components are proven to be uncompromised.

For many pieces of device software, such as the kernel and TrustZone apps, this is done by checking the cryptographic signature of each piece of software.

A trusted environment is hardware-rooted if both the cryptographic keys and code used to compute these signatures are tied back to unmodifiable values stored in hardware.

What are some key features of KNOX?

Key features of KNOX include Secure Boot, Trusted Boot, ARM® TrustZone®-based Integrity Measurement Architecture (TIMA), Security Enhancements for Android (SE for Android), and TrustZone-based Security Services.

The KNOX Workspace container is designed to separate, isolate, encrypt, and protect work data from attackers. This enterprise-ready solution also provides management tools and utilities to meet security needs of enterprises large and small.

Take part in the Samsung Galaxy S9 Photography Challenge

Monday, April 30th, 2018

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus offer a golden combination of water resistant design and top knotch photography capabilities which allow you to capture the shot in any condition.

Here’s 5 challenges to try out with your Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus:

Double Vision

Samsung Galaxy S9 Camera

Take a friend and find a reflective surface, be it a shop window, a puddle or any other shiny surface.

Then, decide how much of your friend you want to show. You could try showing all of the reflection and just some of the person, or just the reflection–or both. Play around for the best effect.

Neon Lights

 samsung galaxy s9 camera

Take a walk and locate a colourful neon sign at street level and have a friend strike a pose.  Use the light from the sign to light their face. Tap the screen to focus on your friend, drag the brightness scale left or right to darken or lighten, and then shoot.

The Aura

 samsung galaxy s9

Want to know how to create your very own colour filter? All you need is some glow sticks. Hold the sticks close to the camera lens and play around with their positioning. Now, tap the screen to focus on a friend, drag the brightness scale left or right to darken or lighten, and then shoot.

The Halo

 Samsung Galaxy S9

Get ‘The Halo’ effect with car headlights. Position a friend between you and stationary car headlights. Make sure they block the lights entirely for a stunning halo effect around their silhouette. Experiment with different poses and try shooting from a crouched position—not at eye height—for a more dramatic effect.

The Silhouette

The best time for capturing a stunning silhouette is Golden Hour—the hour before sunset. Have a friend stand in front of the colourful sky and start snapping. Try different poses and move your camera around until you get a shot you like.

Samsung Illuminated London with their Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus devices

Monday, March 19th, 2018

Samsung celebrated their camera reimagined in London this weekend, asking a series of tech enthusiasts to capture a magnificent light show projected over three nights. The spectacular public light show, powered by lasers – titled “The Night Reimagined” – was projected from Potters Fields Park onto the city’s iconic Leadenhall Building (also known as the ‘Cheese Grater’).

Created by Samsung and produced by AMV BBDO, “The Night Reimagined” installation gave Samsung fans the opportunity to take stunning night-time pictures, which the one-of-a-kind low-light capacity of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ mobile devices have been developed to capture.

We wanted to give the people of London a moment not to be missed,” said Sam Grant, CMO, Samsung Electronics UK. “The Night Reimagined” installation was conceived as an amazing and almost impossible visual spectacle that represents just how Samsung is pushing the boundaries of what is possible. The beauty of the show demonstrates how the capabilities of the Galaxy S9 camera ensures people can capture epic pictures, particularly in the dark.”

All about Samsung Galaxy S9′s Advanced Facial Recognition

Tuesday, January 30th, 2018

Samsung’s face recognition was quickly outsmarted by the high tech Face ID of the iPhone X this year, but we suspect the tech giant isn’t going to take this defeat lying down.

Samsung's advanced Facia recognition

Hidden information in the Galaxy Note 8’s Oreo beta’s Android Package Kit was unearthed by SamCentral suggesting the development of ‘Intelligent Scan Biometrics’ will be seen this year.

This tech is rumored to simultaneously use the Facial Recognition features with the latest Iris scanner to provide better accuracy and more reliable results in low light situations.

The Exynos 9810 and  Snapdragon 845 chipsets set to make an appearance will also enable 3D face detection and secure biometric processing units, which are likely to elicit stricter security for Samsung Pay transactions.

We suspect this feature to be launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S9 when it’s launched in February. This doesn’t rule out support on older phones.  It is likely that Samsung could roll out the feature to S8 and Note 8 users whenever their official Oreo upgrade arrives.
