Review of the Sony Xperia Z

Introducing Sony’s flagship phone for this year,  the Sony Xperia Z.  This precision engineered full HD Smartphone has all the specifications you would expect from a high-end smartphone, including a quad-core 1.5GHz processor and a camera with a massive 13-megapixel sensor.

Handset and Design

With Xperia Z, Sony has used the new OmniBalance design, creating balance and symmetry. With rounded edges and smooth reflective surfaces on all sides with both the front and back made of glass, the Xperia Z has a seamless surface. The Xperia Z has been made with added touch sensitivity and measures a super slim 7.9mm. Best of all, the handset is water and dust resistant.

 Display

Xperia™ Z has a razor-sharp 5” 1920 x 1080p full HD screen with a pixel density of 443 ppi. This allows superior brightness, so everything you watch looks brighter and better.  Ideal for watching the latest film, play games or chat . The The Xperia Z’s keyboard is large enough to type accurately and quickly. It is quite easy to customise the keyboard layout with the keyboard settings wizard. This allows the choice of turning on comma and full stop keys, and adding punctuation as a long-press to each key.

Processor and Battery

The advanced quad core processor gives maximum performance and speed without draining the battery. It allows multiple apps to run at the same time, surf  the web with no loading time, and stream videos without a break. The Snapdragon S4 Pro means each core is powered up and down independently allowing the precise amount of power when needed without wasting power. With Battery STAMINA mode, Wi-Fi and data traffic are disabled during standby but still allows you to receive incoming calls, texts, and alarms. From loading web pages to playing the latest games, the Xperia Z performs with minimum fuss.

Camera

As with the Sony Xperia T, the Xperia Z has a 13-megapixel camera compared to the Sony Xperia L which has an 8 megapixel camera. The Xperia Z’s camera is designed to capture natural colours in any light. Both indoor and outdoor photographs are sharp and brilliant. Impressively whilst recording a video you can still take great photographs. When you want to capture high intensity action, you can turn on the burst mode, whereby you can shoot an unlimited number of images at 10 frames per second and 9 MP resolution. There are also many picture effects which allows you to give your photographs that extra special touch. The Xperia Z uses HDR to video, so that you can film even in high contrast situations, like in front of a window or with the sun behind your subject.

Connectivity

Sony’s one-touch functions connect one device to another without wires or cables. You can play music on your smartphone through a wireless speaker or wireless headphones. Music can be easily shared between two phones or between a phone and  an NFC-enabled laptop.  A touch screen on your car dashboard also enables you to gain access to maps, music and your phone book, enabling you to stay safely connected whilst you drive.
