Great news for anyone with a Windows phone; Windows 10 Anniversary Update will be arriving on August 2nd. Confirmed on Twitter by Windows Insider program leader Dona Sarkar, and with over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, and more than 135 billion hours of use on Windows 10 since launch, this should be big.

Microsoft have introduced Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection which aims to detect, investigate and respond to advanced malicious attacks on networks by providing a more comprehensive threat intelligence and attack detection.

Additionally, the Update delivers Windows Information Protection, (previously enterprise data protection) and improvements to Windows Defender, Microsoft’s free anti-malware service.

With Windows Ink you’ll be able to:
  • Take notes, sketches or drawings quickly and easily

3. Be even more productive with Cortana

Cortana will now sit above your lock screen so you can use all her features without unlocking your device. Other improvements to Cortana include being able to save and recall key information, add photos for visual reminders and share notifications across all your Windows devices.

4. Enjoy  Increased Power Efficiency, Extensions and Accessibility with Microsoft Edge:
Power-saving improvements result in your handset using fewer CPU cycles, consuming less memory, and minimizing the impact of background activity and peripheral content. Microsoft Edge Extensions, such as Pinterest’s “Pin It Button,” Amazon Assistant, AdBlock, Adblock Plus and LastPass, will be also available in the Windows Store with the Anniversary Update, along with new accessibility architecture for Microsoft Edge supporting modern web standards, including HTML5, CSS3, and ARIA.
