Samsung Galaxy: Unbox Your Phone

History had us believe that Samsung would present the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress this year. But instead, the tech giant bucked trends and used the world’s largest mobile event to simply announce an expected launch date during their press conference in Barcelona.

Later, via their twitter feed, Samsung unveiled plans for a Galaxy Unpacked launch event, which would be held on 29 March 2017 in New York City. It is believed that the delay is due to stringent quality control measures put in place after last year’s Galaxy Note 7 recall and a limited supply of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipsets. Samsung are also hinting at major innovation, with rumours that Samsung will break from tradition and release two curved devices this time around, rather than one flat and one edged.

“Soon, very soon, we’ll show you how we’ve pushed the boundaries even further with innovation of the kind that this industry hasn’t seen for a very long time,” said David Lowes, Senior VP and CMO of Samsung Europe.
