The revamped Nokia 3310 3G was easily one of the biggest launches at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow back in February, with the handset riding on the power of technological retrofication. First released some 17 years ago, the original Nokia 3310 is that of mobile legend. So let’s take a look at the retro features that return to warm your heart:
Design:
Whilst the new 3310 is not an exact replica of the original design, there is just enough of an echo of that vintage indestructible 3310 of the past to please, with some must needed modern updates. There’s the vintage white boarder around the screen and pleasing curved operation buttons for a familiar feel. The 3G version is thinner, with a larger (now colour) screen, but the curved operation buttons underneath the display, along with the surrounding curved white detailing provide the necessary retrofication.
Battery life:
Nokia’s new and improved 3310 doesn’t exactly match up to the specification of today’s high-tech smartphones in many ways, but it does have one stand out features; that famous battery life. The a 1,200mAh removable battery cell provides 6 h 30 min of talk time and a huge 576 hours of standby, the battery on the Nokia 3310 offers a longevity that Apple just can not compete with.
MicroUSB is used for charging, and on the bottom of the handset is a 3.5mm headphone jack
Keypad:
The old school keypad adds to the nostalgia. The classic T9 keypad does make texting a little longer, but theres a classic charm to the process.
Snake:
Our old school friend Snake has had a 21st century makeover. When HMD Global released the Nokia 3310 3G they also made a point of updating Snake, that iconic game we’ve all played. You’ll start off using the typical 2-4-6-8 keys to collect and eat the apples, but you’ll soon run into AI duels and navigational mazes that provide a modern day twist.
New features:
New features include 3G connectivity, which allows for social media use. Bluetooth 2.1 is supported for pairing with speakers and other phones. and you can load up a microSD card with some music and connect a pair of wireless headphones.
