Where has the lock screen camera shortcut gone on iOS10?

If you’ve recently ordered an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, or have updated to iOS 10 you’ll notice one useful feature seems to have disappeared.

Previously on iPhones you’d swipe on the little camera icon on the lock screen to quickly open the camera. This ensures you don’t miss the moment whilst trying to unlock your device and locate the camera app.

However, on iOS 10 this little shortcut is not there. Not only that, but it’s not immediately obvious what to do instead.
