Cat has launched the new B100 practical, rugged handset, a basic feature phone mainly for calls and messaging in a working environment.
The Cat B100 comes with a 2.2 inch 240 x 320 display with QVGA resolution and a large button, ergonomically designed keypad. The design of the keypad, with larger than average buttons is such that it can easily be used when wearing gloves, very useful in cold weather. The device works perfectly well in temperatures ranging from -25 to 55 degrees centigrade (-13 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit)
On the rear of the device is the 3 megapixel fixed focus camera with a 4 x digital zoom. You can also capture video at 30fps.
Design and Durability
The handset measures 123 x 56 x 17.5mm and weighs 136g. The device has a military 810G protection which certifies that the phone is drop proof up to 1.8 metres onto concrete. The device is rated to IP 67 and is dustproof and waterproof in freshwater up to 1 metre in depth for up to half an hour. The Cat B100 has a reinforced aluminium chassis with rubber surrounds which gives the device its durability.
Battery and Memory
The Cat B100 has a Li-Ion 1150 mAh removable battery giving up to 10 hours of talk time. The Cat B100 has a noise cancelling microphone and a high quality loud speaker. This provides great conversation quality even in a noisy environment. The Cat B100 has a Media Tek MT6276W processor and comes with 64MB of internal memory which can be expanded via the microSD card. The device also comes with Bluetooth v 2.0 and GPS.
