Camera
The Galaxy J1 features a 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flas. There’s also a 2 megapixel front facing selfie camera. Video capture is at 720p and 30fps and with the addition of the flash you can shoot in low light conditions. The camera features Automatic Mode, Night Mode and a Sport Mode.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy J1 has a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 giving a pixel density of 217ppi. The compact device has good viewing angles, colours and contrast with great brightness levels. There’s also an Outdoor Mode to adapt the screen when viewing in bright sunlight.
Connectivity and Performance
Battery life is good on this small device. With an 1850mAh battery lasting up to 10 hours of talk time and 40 hours of music playback. If you do happen to run low, there’s Ultra Power Saving mode to squeeze out a bit more juice. Running Android 4.4.4 KitKat, there’s 4GB of built in storage with microSd support up to 128GB. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 4.0. The J1 has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM.
Design
The rounded edges on the Galaxy J1 provide a good comfortable grip with the device sitting perfectly in the palm of the hand. At just 8.9 mm thick, the stylish J1 has a great build quality, with the back and sides both made of plastic which is soft to the touch. The compact device weighs just 122 grams and can easily be fitted into your pocket or bag.
